Marie Devereux

Marie is a senior associate in our London office and a member of the firm’s International Dispute Resolution & Arbitration group. She helps clients to resolve complex cross-border disputes, with a particular focus on large-scale infrastructure and engineering projects.

Marie acts for claimants and defendants in arbitration, litigation, mediation, adjudication and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. She has represented clients in high-value construction and commercial disputes in a range of industry sectors, in addition to advising clients on project management and dispute resolution avoidance.

She is dual-qualified and is admitted to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales and in Hong Kong.

Experience Highlights

  • Acting for an EPCM contractor in an ICC arbitration in relation to the design and construction of a world-class petrochemical complex

  • Advising on ICC arbitration regarding the design and construction of major maritime project in Central America

  • Representing an international contractor in a dispute concerning transformers supplied for a major solar power project in the Middle East

  • Acting in DAB proceedings regarding the final account for construction work in a major port project in Central America

  • Acting for the receivers of a multibillion-dollar Cayman fund in an ICC arbitration and related proceedings

  • Representing the owner against its lead design consultant in arbitration proceedings concerning the design and construction of a water park

  • Representing an offshore wind farm contractor in adjudication proceedings against port operator

  • Advising contractor in dispute relating to the use, design and construction of an NCC plant

  • Advising contractor on issues relating to the design and construction of an energy-from-waste facility in the UK

  • Advising a photovoltaic cell manufacturer in arbitration proceedings in connection with an agreement for the sale and purchase of solar wafers

  • Acting for property developer in arbitration proceedings in relation to the construction of a luxury residential development project

  • Advising a heavy equipment company in arbitration proceedings in connection with the exercise of a put option

  • Advising a mining lubricant supplier in arbitration proceedings relating to the wrongful termination of an exclusive sales agreement
