Student Interns

Creating a Blueprint for the Future

Internships, or on-the-job training, are a proven and successful way of mentoring and teaching students in order to help prepare them for a career in the legal industry. The internship program at Vinson & Elkins complements a student’s academic program through real world on-the-job experiences in a variety of areas within our Firm and allows students to have a meaningful learning experience.

Thank you for your interest in our Intern Program. At this time, we are no longer accepting applicants for our 2024 Summer Intern Program.

I spent time during my V&E internship in both our litigation and intellectual property practice groups working directly with attorneys and other staff members. Though these aren’t the areas of law that I practice at the Firm today, I gained invaluable experience about life at a big law firm and continue to have close relationships with colleagues that I interacted with as an intern. The internship opportunity also solidified my desire to go to law school, and helped me speak about my interest in the law more specifically during the law firm and attorney recruiting process as a law student.

Interning at V&E during my summer before beginning law school was a very valuable experience. Not only did I learn about working in a professional legal environment, but I experienced the great collegial culture at V&E between attorneys and employees alike, motivating me through law school so I could come back as a summer associate one day.
