John is a generalist litigator who provides strategic advice in complex commercial trials and appeals, arbitrations, regulatory investigations, and corporate governance disputes. He represents clients across a wide range of industries, with significant experience advising financial services, insurance, and technology companies.
Experience Highlights
(N.Y. Sup. Ct.) – Successfully obtained pre-action discovery into the identity of individuals waging an anonymous campaign of online defamation against a medical technology company
(N.Y. Sup. Ct.) – Successfully obtained a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction securing the collateral for a commercial loan from a defaulting party
(Third Circuit) – Secured on appeal affirmance of dismissal of claims for indemnification and advancement of legal fees against a major financial institution
(C.D. Cal.) – Represented a national insurance provider in litigation against the California Department of Insurance contesting the constitutionality of a conservation order
(S.D.N.Y.) – Represented a major financial institution in a set of antitrust class actions alleging manipulation of the price of precious metals
(Bankr. Del.) – Represented second-lien noteholders in an adversary bankruptcy proceeding against an entertainment company debtor
(N.Y. Sup. Ct.) – Represented market insurers in litigation stemming from the bankruptcy of a foreign oil refinery
(E.D.N.Y.) – Represented the investor limited partner in a federal low-income housing tax credit partnership in litigation with the general partner
(S.D.N.Y.) – Represented the wealth management division of a major financial institution in litigation and arbitration concerning complex securities transactions
Advised boards and activist shareholders on litigation strategy in connection with corporate governance disputes and shareholder activism campaigns
Represented clients in non-public FINRA and LCIA arbitrations
Represented clients in non-public investigations conducted by the DOJ, NYAG, and other law enforcement agencies
