
Christie Alcalá


Christie’s principal area of practice is labor and employment law. She advises and represents clients in a broad range of matters in federal and state courts, and before federal and state administrative agencies, including the EEOC, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, the NLRB, and OSHA.
Additionally, Christie has experience drafting and litigating restrictive covenants, and has defended cases involving noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements in state and federal court. She also advises clients on drafting and implementing employment policies, and assists in compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws, as well as HIPAA/HITECH and state privacy laws related to health information. Christie serves on the firm’s Associate Advisory Committee and Pro Bono Committee.

Clovis Point Capital in a majority investment in ZynBit.com and merger of ZynBit with Cirruspath, another Clovis Point portfolio company, to create a customer acquisition platform
Crestview Partners in its investment in Upwell Water, a water-focused specialty finance company
Secured summary judgment on all aspects of a breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing claim brought by a former employee of an international energy company (lead associate)
(Tex. Dist. – Harris County) — Defended a national security company in a jury trial against former employee’s claims of national origin discrimination and retaliation (second chair)
(Tex. Dist. – Harris County) — Successfully defeated a temporary injunction sought to restrict the statewide operations of a national distributor and manufacturer of industrial hoses (lead associate)
(Tex. Dist. – Harris County) — Obtained enforcement of an international energy company’s dispute resolution program in multiple jurisdictions
(E.D. Ca) — Obtained enforcement of an international energy company’s dispute resolution program in multiple jurisdictions
(S.D. Tex.) — Quashed subpoena seeking medical records in violation of HIPAA for a pro bono health clinic client
