Afzaal is an associate in the London Energy Transactions & Projects practice. He has advisory and transactional experience in project development and finance, cross border M&A, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts and general corporate work, primarily in the energy sector. Afzaal also regularly presents at inner-city schools, career events and universities to promote social mobility and access to the legal profession.

Funds managed by Apollo in the $2 billion sale by New Fortress Energy Inc. of 11 LNG infrastructure vessels to a newly formed venture owned approximately 80% by Apollo funds and 20% by NFE
ShaMaran Petroleum Corp. on the signed acquisition of 100% of the shares of TEPKRI Sarsang A/S, the holder of an 18% participating interest in the Sarsang Block located in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, from TotalEnergies for a potential total value of $170 million
Uzbekistan GTL on the construction and development of a $3.6 billion gas to liquids project in the Kashkadarya Region, close to Karshi, in the Republic of Uzbekistan
A renewables focused infrastructure fund in relation to their investment in a major UK renewable energy developer focusing on solar projects, as well as the related commitment of capital to a shared platform for the future development and construction of solar projects
KKR in connection with the investment, alongside OTPP, in Caruna Oy, Finland’s largest electricity distribution company. The transaction, which represented the second deal undertaken under KKR’s core infrastructure strategy, involved the acquisition of First Sentier Investors’ 40% stake in Caruna Oy as well as the separate acquisition of OMERS’ 40% stake
STAR Rafineri A.Ş. a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and its sponsors in relation to its $6.3 billion oil refinery in Turkey on the Aegean Sea
