Biography
Alden’s legal career of more than 25 years has run the gamut from orchestrating multifaceted, multi-jurisdictional, multi-national litigation cases to working on high-profile cases like the Whitewater investigation, merger challenges, high-stakes commercial disputes, and major international disputes. Amounts at stake in these cases frequently involve hundreds of millions of dollars. Alden’s principal area of practice is complex commercial litigation, with particular emphasis on antitrust, contractual disputes, false claims act/qui tam and international litigation and arbitration. Many of his cases have involved highly complex technical matters in the computer, communications, energy, and polymer industries. He has successfully litigated cases in federal and state courts, as well as in domestic and international arbitrations. He has published several articles in the antitrust and international arbitration fields.
In addition, Alden is actively involved in public service activities, representing elderly persons of limited means in the District of Columbia courts. He has also devoted significant time and effort to complex civil rights cases, including preparing briefs for several cases before the United States Supreme Court.
