Vinson & Elkins today announced that Jason Marty will join the firm as Chief Operating Officer, effective June 29, 2026. He succeeds Adam Kassoff, who joined the firm in 2010 and announced earlier this year that he plans to retire. Kassoff will remain with the firm during a transition period.
Marty brings more than two decades of leadership experience at prominent global law firms, including serving as Chief Operating Officer of Baker McKenzie and Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. Throughout his career, he has partnered closely with firm leadership on strategy, financial management, technology and innovation, client service, and growth initiatives across complex international organizations.
Most recently, Marty co-founded a company focused on applying artificial intelligence to strengthen client relationship management and business development for law firms. Earlier in his career, he led global knowledge management, marketing and operational initiatives, helping shape some of the legal industry’s most significant transformation efforts.
“Jason is an accomplished leader with a deep understanding of what it takes to operate and grow a sophisticated organization,” said Keith Fullenweider, Chair of Vinson & Elkins. “He brings a rare combination of operational excellence, strategic insight, technological fluency, and an understanding that our business is built on relationships, trust and client service. We are confident Jason is the right leader to help us continue to build momentum and invest in the future.”
Fullenweider added, “We are also deeply grateful to Adam Kassoff for his extraordinary leadership and service to our firm. Adam has helped transform our business operations by strengthening the foundation that supports our business professionals, lawyers and clients. His contributions to Vinson & Elkins have been significant and lasting, and we appreciate his continued partnership during this transition.”
Marty said he was drawn to Vinson & Elkins because of its commitment to excellence.
“Vinson & Elkins has earned a reputation for combining high standards in client service with a willingness to evolve, innovate and lead through change,” Marty said. “The combination of the firm’s vibrant culture, its strategic vision for growth, and its long-standing commitment to client service make this an incredibly exciting opportunity. I look forward to working alongside the firm’s talented lawyers and business professionals to support its continued success and help shape what’s next.”
As Chief Operating Officer, Marty will oversee the firm’s business operations, including Business Development, Communications, Facilities, Financial Services, Marketing Technology, Talent, and Technology & Data Services, and will work closely with firm leadership to support Vinson & Elkins’ strategic priorities, client service objectives and continued growth.
Marty earned a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications from Drake University and a Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Communications from Temple University.
