Legal Business profiled Partner Michael Burns, who joined the firm’s London office in August as head of energy and infrastructure M&A for EMEA, and his decades-long connection with Ben Higson, head of Vinson & Elkins’ London Transactions practice.
The two first met on Burns’ first day at Allen & Overy in 2002, when Higson, then an associate, introduced him to the world of physical data rooms. They have stayed in close contact since. Higson said their shared history means the team can hit the ground running, while Burns said that when he began thinking about his next move, “I immediately thought of Ben.”
Higson also described Vinson & Elkins’ transatlantic platform and said he and Burns will focus on where clients are headed in energy and infrastructure. Burns said the firm’s culture was a major factor in his decision to join, noting that “Vinson & Elkins is known for being a very collegiate partnership.”
