Michael Burns is Head of Infrastructure and Energy M&A – EMEA and a partner in the firm’s Corporate practice. He has more than 20 years of experience advising on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and capital raises across the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Michael advises a broad range of clients, including private capital investors, corporates, platform companies and developers on M&A, joint ventures, capital raises, divestitures, and major project development. His experience spans energy and infrastructure, including midstream and upstream oil and gas, renewables, biogas, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, SMRs and battery storage, as well as digital infrastructure (data centres, towers and fibre), transportation infrastructure, and other large-scale infrastructure.
Michael is recognised as a Leading Individual in Legal 500 2026 and Chambers UK 2026 for his energy and infrastructure work. He is frequently quoted in the media, has contributed chapters to leading energy and infrastructure publications, and is a member of Chapter Zero, The Directors’ Climate Forum.
