Mark Brasher Rejoins Vinson & Elkins’ Energy and Infrastructure Practice

Brasher Recognized Globally as a Leading Energy and Infrastructure Advisor

Vinson & Elkins today announces that Mark Brasher has rejoined the firm as a Houston-based partner in the firm’s pre-eminent energy and infrastructure practice. Brasher, who spent 11 years at the firm, brings a wealth of experience in domestic and international transactions, particularly large scale and complex energy and infrastructure projects globally.

He rejoins Vinson & Elkins from Cordina, an Australian-based software and advisory firm that supports the carbon emission reduction objectives of participants in the world’s most carbon-intensive industries.

Brasher has advised leading investors and developers in significant infrastructure ventures across a wide range of sectors, including LNG, renewable and sustainable energy assets, offshore energy infrastructure, oil and gas, power, transport, and water. He is recognized by Chambers Global (2023) as a leading practitioner in LNG Projects.

“Having Mark back at the firm fortifies our already robust energy and infrastructure practice,” said Vinson & Elkins Partner Kaam Sahely, co-head of the firm’s Corporate Practice Group and a member of the Management Committee. “His extensive experience in project development, finance, M&A, and joint ventures will  be invaluable assets to our clients, who turn to us because of our unmatched understanding of energy and infrastructure assets.”

Brasher’s return to Vinson & Elkins comes at a pivotal time as the firm is seeing an unprecedented increase in activity in the energy and infrastructure sectors, driven by the Inflation Reduction Act, improved market conditions and huge tailwinds behind the energy transition.

“During my absence from Vinson & Elkins, the firm has adeptly navigated the challenges and opportunities presented by the Inflation Reduction Act and the trends associated with the energy transition,” said Brasher. “I believe no firm is better positioned to assist clients during this transformative period of growth in U.S. energy and infrastructure. I am thrilled to rejoin my exceptionally talented colleagues and friends at the firm, and I look forward to again working with the many wonderful clients of Vinson & Elkins.”

Brasher earned Bachelor of Arts and Laws degrees from Monash University, Australia, and an LL.M. from The University of Texas at Austin.
