Vinson & Elkins advised Pacifico Energy in connection with securing a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (“TCEQ”) air permit authorizing 7.65 gigawatts of gas-fired power generation for its GW Ranch project, a private-grid power generation campus in Pecos County, Texas, purpose-built to support hyperscale data centers and advanced AI infrastructure. GW Ranch is the largest permitted data center campus in the U.S.
The Vinson & Elkins team was led by Partners Jon Niermann and Eric Groten.
“This is a massive amount of power that demonstrates Texas’s leadership in the growing data center sector,” said Niermann. “We are honored to have supported Pacifico in reaching this milestone for the innovative GW Ranch, designed without impact to the grid or cost to Texas ratepayers.”
