In FT Energy Source, Partner Kaam Sahely discussed the findings from Vinson & Elkins AI Power & Infrastructure Pulse Survey, including respondents’ outlook for power and AI infrastructure spending and views about the suitability of the grid and power infrastructure to support growth.
“People are contemplating their own project pipelines and observing that a lot of things in the U.S. tend to get overdone and overbuilt,” Sahely told the publication.
“I think people are probably worried about there being a flood of projects that get to a final investment decision, and then maybe there’s a bit of a pause as debt and capital markets and the offtakers digest everything and move on to whatever comes afterwards.”
The article also explores the emergence of second and third-tier markets for future AI infrastructure development, including regions in Latin America, Australia, and Canada.
