Vinson & Elkins has been recognized by Houston Volunteer Lawyers as an Equal Access to Justice Champion for fulfilling its annual pledge. Over the past campaign year, the firm took 56 pro bono cases, reflecting its strong commitment to serving the Houston community.
These matters spanned a wide range of legal issues—from family law to tax disputes—and provided critical support to individuals facing serious legal challenges without the means to pay for counsel. Through this work, Vinson & Elkins helped expand access to justice for Houstonians in urgent need.
“We’re proud to support Houston Volunteer Lawyers in addressing the city’s most pressing legal needs,” said Pro Bono Counsel Parker Cragg. “Our attorneys are deeply committed to using their skills to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable Houstonians.”
The Equal Access to Justice Champions Program was launched by the Houston Bar Association in 2006 to support the placement of Houston Volunteer Lawyers cases with pro bono volunteers. Through this initiative, law firms, corporate legal departments, and solo practitioners commit to accepting one pro bono case each year for every five attorneys in their Houston office, helping expand access to legal services for those who can’t afford them.
Pro bono service is a cornerstone of Vinson & Elkins’ culture. From senior partners to first-year associates, our lawyers dedicate their time and skills to personal causes that make a meaningful impact on those in need. On average, Vinson & Elkins attorneys contribute more than 20,000 hours of pro bono legal service, reflecting a firm-wide commitment to giving back through purposeful, impactful work.
