Where We Excel

Our team has a long history of guiding both investors and emerging companies throughout the venture capital life cycle, from start-up to exit. We have significant experience representing investors and companies across a broad range of industries. The technology and life sciences industries, including healthcare services, biotechnology, enterprise software, internet infrastructure, and telecommunications, are the cornerstones of our Venture Capital practice. And as the venture capital financing model has expanded to energy-related technologies, our team has leveraged Vinson & Elkins’ premier energy capabilities to advise clients in that industry.

Venture Capital & Emerging Company Clients

V&E represents a significant number of venture capital funds in structuring, negotiating, and managing their funds and portfolio investments in the U.S. and internationally. Our partner-led teams also work closely with promising emerging companies to obtain venture capital financing. Our experience enables us to offer practical solutions to complex legal issues. As a result of our client-focused approach, management teams and investors, both in the U.S. and internationally, repeatedly engage V&E to advise them on venture capital transactions.

An Integrated Approach

Our venture capital clients benefit from the seamless integration of the transactional team with other top-ranked specialty practices within the firm, including Tax, Employment, Benefits, and Intellectual Property. Our transactional and specialty teams work closely to support our clients’ commercial objectives through all phases of the investment and maturation processes.
