Michael’s practice focuses on assisting energy industry clients in a wide range of regulatory, litigation, and transactional matters. He has advised clients on numerous issues related to certificate and rate proceedings; state and federal court litigation; state and federal appellate proceedings; and transactional matters regarding the production, gathering, and transportation of natural gas. Michael also works with clients in rule-making proceedings and other administrative matters, broadly touching upon energy industry policy.

  • Represented and advised investor-owned utility during extensive state regulatory rate and prudence proceedings associated with first-of-a-kind generating asset megaproject

  • Represented clients in the negotiation of contracts for the purchase and sale of natural gas

  • Advised clients regarding the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA) obligations and Qualifying Facility power purchase agreements

  • Represented investor-owned utility and made oral presentation to state regulator regarding proposed Net Metering rule

  • Represented client in certificate of public convenience and necessity proceedings for transmission assets
