The American Bar Association (ABA) Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service has recognized Vinson & Elkins and Partner Hill Wellford as 2025 Pro Bono Leaders, honoring their exceptional commitment to expanding access to justice.
Hill Wellford was individually recognized for answering 50 or more civil legal questions through the ABA Free Legal Answers program, providing critical legal guidance to individuals and families who otherwise lack access to civil legal assistance.
ABA Free Legal Answers is a nationwide virtual legal advice clinic that allows income-eligible users to post civil legal questions online and receive answers from volunteer attorneys. The Pro Bono Leader designation is awarded to attorneys and law firms that demonstrate an exceptional level of service and commitment through the program.
Co-head of Vinson & Elkins’ Antitrust group, Wellford served in senior roles in the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division.
The firm was separately recognized as a 2025 ABA Free Legal Answers Pro Bono Leader for the collective efforts of its attorneys, who answered 75 or more civil legal questions through the program.
Led by Pro Bono Counsel Parker Cragg and the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, Vinson & Elkins’ Pro Bono program engages with the community, connects with clients facing adversity, and equips our lawyers with the support and resources they need to provide effective counsel.
