Camilo’s practice focuses on the litigation and arbitration of complex international commercial and investor-state disputes. Camilo has handled numerous international commercial arbitration matters under the various international arbitration rules, including AAA/ICDR, ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC and in a variety of forums, including the U.S. and the UK. He also has substantial experience handling disputes under investment treaties and disputes related to oil & gas as well as large infrastructure projects.
In addition, Camilo represents clients before U.S. state and federal courts in litigation related to arbitration issues, including the enforcement of awards, applications to obtain evidence in aid of arbitration, and seeking preliminary relief. An experienced New York litigator who holds a law degree from a civil law jurisdiction in South America, Camilo provides added value to clients concerning civil law or the intricacies of Latin America-centred disputes.

Advised a Latin American oil company in relation to an ICC arbitration concerning the construction of a $5 billion refinery in South America
Represented a majority shareholder in an ICC arbitration concerning the control of a group of Mexican companies with billions of dollars in revenue
Represented a Barbadian investor, in an ICSID arbitration against a Latin American sovereign. The aggregate of claims worth US $200 million arose from the expropriation of investments in the automotive sector
Represented a Spanish investor, in an ICSID arbitration against a Latin America sovereign. The aggregate of claims worth US $100 million and the dispute arose from the expropriation of investments in the banking sector
