Vinson & Elkins announced today that its Litigation and Regulatory departments collectively achieved three Band 1 rankings in Chambers USA 2022: Nationwide Energy: Oil & Gas (Regulatory & Litigation); Texas Environment; and, Texas Real Estate: Land Use/Zoning. With nine new individual rankings, the firm’s Litigation and Regulatory rankings make up 83 of the firm’s total 199 rankings.

The firm’s litigation and regulatory attorneys received 63 individual rankings, including eight in Band 1.

“For more than a century, companies have turned to Vinson & Elkins to handle their most complex and impactful litigation matters, and these rankings are a reflection of the trust our clients have in us to successfully lead them through the issues and risks they face,” said Jim Thompson, Co-Head of the Global Litigation department.

“This year’s recognition highlights the depth and breadth of our practice areas, and demonstrates not only our leadership but the incredible group of colleagues with a ‘client-first’ mindset who deserve this recognition” said Craig Seebald, Co-Head of the Global Litigation department.

Vinson & Elkins has continued to expand and evolve its Litigation and Regulatory practice groups across the United States and abroad, most recently with the addition of two partners in the London office’s International Construction Disputes practice.

As the topic of energy transition continues to remain a nationwide concentration, Vinson & Elkins has made its focus on the industry apparent not only by the number of rankings, but by the caliber of work and thought leadership in the space. Clients have cited the firm as having “excellent attorneys that are well equipped to tackle difficult and complex legal issues.”

Regulatory clients told Chambers: “For complex deals or something that involves nuance they are the right firm to go to.”

*54 Litigation and Regulatory attorneys were recognized, with some ranked in more than one category.
