In my career I’ve touched on all aspects of the energy transactional spectrum. The experiences I have in one sector help me solve problems in others. In my view, the more diverse your practice is, the more you can bring to the table for your client.
We are fortunate to have clients who have entrusted us with their significant matters on a repeat basis over the years. I think the reason clients return is that they trust our judgment, as well as our responsiveness. When they choose V&E, they have access to a deep bench of experienced, well-trained lawyers across multiple relevant disciplines.
Our clients are looking for us not just to do the documentation, but to really help them think through problems and risks. I enjoy helping people navigate complex issues and design creative and customized solutions.
Project development and finance is largely an exercise in problem solving – every project faces its own unique set of extremely complex challenges. We are fortunate to have clients that trust us to help them overcome those challenges with the development of what is usually a fundamentally important piece of infrastructure that serves a community or region.
I work hard to find the specific right answers for my clients, and I think they appreciate my ability to separate the signal from the noise in a given situation. This is especially true in the energy industry, which is endlessly dynamic, from upstream oil and gas to renewables.
I’m really motivated by the development – and purchase and sale – of groundbreaking projects, whether it’s high-speed rail connecting Dallas and Houston, complex infrastructure or a cutting edge renewables project. My focus is on the big picture and finding legal solutions to the critical business issues. I’m proud to work on tangible assets that people get to live with and benefit from for a long time after a deal is complete.
