Vinson & Elkins Advises Fortera in Strategic Partnership to Deploy Breakthrough Low-Carbon Cement Technology

Vinson & Elkins advised Arelac, Inc. (d/b/a Fortera) (“Fortera”) in connection with its entry into a strategic partnership agreement with Graymont Western U.S. Inc. (“Graymont”) providing the framework to produce Fortera’s ReAct™ low-carbon cement by leveraging Graymont’s existing lime production operations and its innovations in sustainable building materials.

The strategic partnership draws on Graymont’s global network of manufacturing infrastructure and supply chain to accelerate the deployment of Fortera’s technology, and reflects years of product testing, design validation, and collaboration between Fortera and Graymont. The partnership provides for the construction and operation of a first of its kind plant for the production of Fortera’s ReAct™ product and lays a framework for the development of future plants at sites owned and operated by Graymont.

The Vinson & Elkins team was led by partners Alan Alexander, Caroline Kuehn, and Andrew Nealon and senior associate Jordan Fossee, with assistance from associates Joshua Hayes, Lauren Perillo, Garrett Finch, and Ashley Osborne. Other key team members included partner Todd Way, partner Jenny Speck, and associate Jeff Slusher; counsel Rajesh Patel, senior associate Haley Titcomb and associate Sophie Belton; counsel Ken Adler; counsel Andrew Beach; and counsel Brent Schoradt.
