Tyler practices commercial litigation in the Washington D.C. office of Vinson & Elkins. His practice often centers around antitrust litigation, including business-to-business disputes, class actions, and investigations. He has additional experience with securities class actions, corporate derivative suits, trade secrets cases, and appeals. He maintains a regular pro bono docket with a focus on civil rights litigation. Tyler previously worked in the Austin, Texas office of Vinson & Elkins. He completed a clerkship with the Hon. Richard C. Wesley in New York on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Antitrust
(S.D.N.Y.) – Represents major healthcare systems alleging price-fixing amongst commercial insurance companies in Sherman Act claims against a data analytics company
(M.D. Tenn.) – Assisted in securing full dismissal of federal and state price-fixing claims against a student property manager in an antitrust class action
(W.D.M.O.) – Represents a real estate agency in class action claims alleging price-fixing of brokers’ commissions in coordination with a trade association
(N.D. Cal.) – Represented an energy company in connection with an antitrust investigation conducted by the Department of Justice
(W.D. Tex.) – Assisted in achieving a favorable settlement of a securities class action alleging material misstatements regarding financial disclosures on behalf of a publicly traded company
(S.D. Tex.) – Defended a publicly traded company in a securities fraud class action resulting in a favorable settlement
(S.D. Tex.) – Defended a publicly traded company in a corporate derivative suit alleging breaches of fiduciary duties resulting in a favorable settlement
(W.D. Tex.) – Represented an amenity management company alleging theft of trade secrets and breach of contract; obtained multiple temporary restraining orders and a favorable settlement
(Texas – Travis County) – Represents a technology company in a breach of contract dispute with an investment banker
(Texas – Travis County) – Represented a private equity fund in breach of contract dispute over a broker’s fee; obtained a favorable settlement
(Tex. App. – San Antonio) – Argued and won a motion to compel in Texas Public Information Act litigation on behalf of non-profit organization against private prison company; secured denial of mandamus relief challenging the district court’s discovery order in related appeal
(Tex. App. – Houston [14th Dist.]) – Represented non-profit organization in an amici curiae brief arguing that a lower court illegally conditioned access to a trial on payment of attorneys fees; prevailed in overturning the lower court’s order
(U.S. Court of Appeals – 9th Cir.) – Represents incarcerated individual in appeal of dismissal of civil rights claims against the Arizona state prison system
(Immigration Court) – Obtained legal residency in the United States for asylum applicant from Rwanda
