Steven D. Moore


Steve Moore is a trial lawyer who focuses on intellectual property and complex commercial litigation. Steve defends companies against and represents intellectual property owners asserting patent, trade secret, and related claims in a wide variety of industries. Steve has extensive jury trial experience, including successful jury trials in the Northern District of California, District of Delaware, and the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas. As lead trial counsel Steve obtained a defense verdict in a patent infringement case in the Western District of Texas. As lead trial counsel in a series of patent infringement cases in the Eastern District of Texas, Steve won approximately $101 million in jury verdicts in favor of the patent owner.
Steve has frequently argued before the Federal Circuit, including before the en banc Federal Circuit. He also has successfully coordinated global litigation, resulting in favorable rulings for his clients both in the U.S. and abroad.

Effingo Wireless, Inc. v. Motorola Mobility LLC (W.D. Tex.) – Defended Motorola in a jury trial involving Bluetooth technology; won verdict of non-infringement and invalidity, followed by patent invalidation in reexamination
GREE, Inc. v. Supercell (E.D. Tex.) – Represented GREE in a large-scale patent battle against Supercell enforcing more than 20 patents, including two jury verdicts of willful infringement totaling over $100 million in damages
Fujifilm Corp. v. Motorola Mobility LLC (N.D. Cal.) – Defended Motorola in a multi-week jury trial on five patents related to digital cameras and file transmission; prevailed on four patents before or at trial and invalidated the fifth via reexamination; case settled on appeal
Intellectual Ventures I LLC v. Motorola Mobility LLC (D. Del.) – Defended Motorola against patents asserted against smartphones and tablets, including two multi-week jury trials; won summary judgment on one patent, secured a jury verdict of non-infringement and invalidity on another, and won post-trial motions on two others
Interface Inc. Patent Litigation (D.S.C.) – Defended Interface in a three-week jury trial against competitor seeking hundreds of millions in damages; jury found competitor’s patents invalid and no infringement
Zodiac Pool Systems LLC v. Wybotics et al. (ITC & C.D. Cal.) – Represented Zodiac in patent infringement and importation investigation enforcing patents involving robotic pool cleaners; achieved favorable settlements and consent orders barring importation of accused products; coordinated related enforcement in France
Advanced Media Networks LLC v. AT&T Mobility (N.D. Tex.) – Won summary judgment of non-infringement for AT&T in a case seeking $572 million in damages; argued the appeal resulting in affirmance of judgment and award of fees under §285
EON Corp. IP Holdings v. Motorola Mobility (N.D. Cal. & D. Del.) – Secured summary judgment wins in two separate cases, affirmed by the Federal Circuit, ending multi-year litigation
Thought, Inc. v. Oracle Corp. (N.D. Cal.) – Defended Oracle in a seven-patent suit seeking $130 million; invalidated three patents in IPR, obtained dismissal with prejudice of three others, and won summary judgment on the last; argued the appeal resulting in affirmance
Mӧlnlycke Health Care Group AB v. Ossur & Medline (N.D. Ga.) – Represented Mӧlnlycke in enforcing silicone wound dressing patents; favorable claim construction led to settlement after accused products were removed from U.S. market
Kennametal Inc. v. Sandvik (W.D. Pa.) – Represented Kennametal in U.S. litigation and coordinated German and U.K. patent disputes over metal cutting tools; achieved favorable claim construction and invalidity rulings in US litigation, and global settlement after successful UK High Court bench trial
McKesson Info. Solutions v. Epic Systems Corp. (N.D. Ga.) – Defended Epic in a patent suit involving doctor-patient communication software; district court found no infringement, argued appeals before Federal Circuit panel and en banc; case settled on appeal
Georgia-Pacific LLC Patent Litigation (N.D. Ga.) – Represented Georgia-Pacific in enforcing composite food wrap patents; secured favorable claim construction ruling and settlement with cash payment and royalty-bearing license
