I like the tangible nature of real estate, as opposed to businesses that merge in and out of existence. I like to be able to drive down the road and see a building that I’ve helped acquire, helped lease and then sold.
I particularly enjoy the opportunity our practice affords to work with highly entrepreneurial individuals as they lay the building blocks for vibrant and sustainable businesses. It is especially rewarding to serve as a trusted legal adviser to those clients throughout the life-cycle of those businesses.
I represent a wide variety of clients, but there’s one common theme among my best clients: creative, hard-working people who have a vision and the drive to make that vision reality. It’s fun to help clients like that realize the dream they’ve created from inception through the whole business life cycle.
One of the things I like best about my work is that I get to be deeply involved in my clients’ businesses. I like developing close relationships with my clients and then working with them to find creative and efficient ways to help them grow their businesses and achieve their goals.
My goal is to be viewed by clients not as their lawyer on any specific transaction, but as a trusted advisor to their overall businesses. Only by seeking to understand the client’s objectives on both a deal-by-deal basis and as part of a broader business strategy can I provide the level of legal services needed by our sophisticated clients on their most complex transactions.
I try to be as practical as possible in terms of what’s most important to my client and what we’re willing to negotiate. I work hard to win the points that will make a difference and not get caught up in winning for the sake of winning.
