Gary Johnson

Gary’s principal area of practice is complex commercial litigation. He focuses his practice on business and energy related disputes at the trial level in state and federal courts and arbitration.

Gary has assisted clients in a range of cases, with a particular focus on disputes arising out of purchase and sale agreements and operating agreements. His practice also includes internal and government investigations and disputes regarding contracts in various industries, tax issues, and oil and gas royalties.

Experience Highlights

  • Represented owner of cogeneration facility in jury trial against petrochemical company relating to competing breach of contract claims

  • Represented oil and gas company in breach of contract dispute against pipeline owner relating to shipment of natural gas liquids on intra-state pipeline

  • Represented oil and gas company in AAA arbitration relating to retention of liabilities under purchase and sale agreement

  • Represented oil and gas company in contract and business tort dispute relating to sale of upstream and midstream assets

  • Represented non-operator in contract dispute against operator relating to gas processing agreement entered into by operator

  • Represented government contractor in defending against claims from subcontractor relating to construction of nuclear remediation facility

  • Represented several owners of Houston office buildings in lawsuits against appraisal district challenging property tax valuations

  • Represented oil and gas companies in lawsuits brought by royalty owners claiming under-payment of royalties

  • Assisted oil and gas companies in response to investigations by, and subpoenas from, the Securities and Exchange Commission and U.S. Department of the Interior

  • Assisted companies in technology and oil and gas industries in conducting internal investigations relating to domestic and foreign operations
