Daniel LeBey is a transactional lawyer who represents clients in the real estate and mortgage industries in capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions and other matters. These clients are often structured to qualify as real estate investment trusts (REITs).
Daniel also advises boards of directors and special committees on strategic transactions and other governance matters and advises clients with respect to corporate and securities law compliance and corporate governance matters.
His practice includes acting as issuer’s counsel and underwriters’ counsel in initial public offerings and other public and private offerings of equity and debt securities. He also represents acquirers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions and private equity sponsors, asset managers, and other participants in connection with fund formation deals, private REIT formations and other pre-IPO formation transactions.
Driven in part by his strong foundation in finance and business, Daniel’s practice is an entrepreneurial one. He worked at a New York bank before pursuing a legal career and spent his early years as an attorney focusing primarily on bank M&A deals before becoming a real estate capital markets lawyer. He leverages this background along with his deep understanding of clients' businesses and industries, to provide tailored, practical legal guidance to help clients meet their objectives. Daniel's work has earned him a great deal of repeat business, with management teams, sponsors and investment banks engaging him for multiple business ventures. Clients in particular appreciate his "thoroughness and attention to detail," according to Chambers USA, where a reviewer also praised him as "extremely intelligent" and "very efficient" (2019).
Daniel also serves as the managing partner for V&E’s Richmond office.
