Darin W. Schultz

Darin Schultz advises on secured lending transactions in the energy sector, working with clients on financings through every stage of the business life cycle. His practice focuses primarily on representing borrowers, including emerging ventures, established companies and private equity sponsors, in a wide variety of syndicated financings. Darin has extensive experience in deals involving upstream, midstream and oilfield services companies; acquisition finance; and project finance. He has also represented lenders in a variety of transactions.

  • Targa Resources Partners and Targa Resources Corp. in the $7.7 billion acquisition of Atlas Pipeline Partners and Atlas Energy

  • Blue Racer Midstream, LLC, a joint venture between Caiman Energy II, LLC and Dominion Resources, in a $800 million credit facility

  • AES Gener S.A. in the development and project financing of the Angamos project, a 462 MW coal-fired power plant in Chile; named Project Finance International’s Power Deal of the Year (Americas), Power Finance & Risk’s Deal of the Year

  • Caliber Midstream Partners, L.P., a joint venture between First Reserve and Triangle Petroleum, in a $200 million revolving credit facility

  • Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in a $5 billion secured revolving credit facility

  • RockPile Energy Services, LLC in a $150 million secured revolving credit facility

  • QES Holdco LLC, a Quintana company, in a $200 million secured revolving credit facility

  • Endurance Resources Holdings, LLC, a Lime Rock portfolio company, in a $150 million reserve-based credit facility

  • Deep Gulf Energy II, LLC, a First Reserve portfolio company, in a $150 million senior secured credit facility

  • Midstates Petroleum Company, Inc. in a $750 million reserve-based credit facility in furtherance of the acquisition financing of approximately $620 million of producing properties and undeveloped acreage

  • An international private equity fund in a $2 billion reserve-based credit facility in furtherance of acquisition financing

  • Globe Energy Services in a secured asset-based lending credit facility and acquisition financing

  • An international private equity fund in connection with the acquisition of $1 billion of performing/sub-performing secured loans and equity interests

  • JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. in a $375 million senior secured revolving and term loan credit facility to a borrower in the industrial construction and fabrication industry

  • Newfield Exploration Company in a $1.25 billion investment-grade credit facility

  • Lead arranger and administrative agent in $98 million secured acquisition financing with respect to a power project in Georgia

  • Westlake Chemical Corporation in various credit facility matters in furtherance of an MLP initial public offering

  • Great Northern Midstream, a Quintana Infrastructure and Development investment, in the development, financing, and refinancing of the BakkenLink crude oil pipeline in North Dakota

  • LS Power in the project financing of the Cross Texas Project, an approximately 234-mile electric transmission line and related facilities
