Michael is a member of V&E’s worldwide Energy Transactions and Projects practice group. His principal areas of practice are project development, project financings, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.

Renewables

  • Goldman Sachs Renewable Power Fund in the $350 million acquisition from Marina Energy, a subsidiary of Southern Jersey Industries, of its solar portfolio comprised of 76 distributed solar energy projects with total capacity of 204 MW

  • Goldman Sachs Renewable Power Fund in its investment in a solar portfolio

  • Global Atlantic Financial Group in the $1.175 billion acquisition from Southern Power of a 33 percent minority interest in its solar portfolio (comprised of 26 operating solar facilities representing approximately 1.7 gigawatts of capacity)

  • Devon Energy in its $100 million joint venture with Dow to develop a portion of Devon’s STACK acreage in central Oklahoma

  • Devon Energy in the $553 million sale of the southern portion of its Barnett Shale position 

  • EP Energy Corporation in its drilling joint venture with Wolfcamp Drillco Operating to fund future oil and natural gas development in its Wolfcamp program

  • Felix Energy in its $2.5 billion cash and stock sale of the company to WPX Energy

  • ExL Petroleum Management, LLC, a portfolio company of Quantum Energy Partners, in its $648 million sale of certain acreage to Carrizo (Permian) LLC in the core of the Delaware Basin

  • Private oil and gas company in the $625 million acquisition of oil and gas assets in Utah

  • Antero Midstream Partners LP in its formation of a joint venture to develop processing and fractionation assets in Appalachia with MarkWest Energy Partners L.P., a wholly owned subsidiary of MPLX

  • Blackstone in its $1.57 billion acquisition of an interest in the Rover pipeline project from a subsidiary of Energy Transfer Partners

  • Tellurian, Inc. in the development of the Driftwood LNG Project, a 5 train, 26 mtpa LNG export terminal in Louisiana, including the negotiation of a $15.2 billion EPC contract and long distance natural gas pipeline for natural gas supply

  • EagleClaw Midstream Ventures, a portfolio company of Blackstone Energy Partners, in a joint venture with Kinder Morgan Texas Pipeline, a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan, to construct and own the approximately $2 billion Permian Highway Pipeline Project

  • Summit Midstream in the $90 million sale of Tioga Midstream, a non-core gathering system in North Dakota, to affiliates of Hess Infrastructure Partners
