Lawrence is a commercial litigator focusing on energy, engineering, and construction disputes. He represents energy companies, engineering contractors, project owners, and investors in both prosecution and defense of actions in state and federal courts, and before domestic and international arbitration tribunals.
As a former petroleum engineer, Lawrence has practical experience with many of the issues affecting energy projects and advises clients on litigation and transactional matters involving oil & gas exploration and production. He is a member of the firm’s Shale and Hydraulic Fracturing Task Force.

(AAA Arbitration) — Representing non-operator oil company in action against joint-venture operator for recovery of excessive affiliate rate charges
(AAA Arbitration) — Represented an international oil and gas production and exploration company in an arbitration related to an indemnity dispute arising from extensive property damage caused by a collapsed well
(ICC Arbitration) — Defending bridge owner against wrongful claims by international construction contractor for additional compensation to re-design and complete project in Latin America
(Iowa Dist. – Marshall Cnty. & AAA Arbitration) — Representing international construction contractor against turbine supplier for fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of contract related to equipment and services for a major power plant project
(AAA Arbitration) — Representing non-operator oil company in action against joint-venture operator for recovery of excessive midstream charges
(S.D. Ga.) — Represented international equipment broker in breach of contract action against Georgia fire pump manufacturer
Defended publicly traded independent oil exploration and production company against proxy contest by activist shareholder
Assisted with conducting an internal investigation for publicly traded exploration & production company regarding allegations of overstatement of petroleum reserves
Assisted with conducting an internal investigation for an independent exploration & production company regarding well permitting and production reporting practices
First-chaired numerous jury trials through the City of Houston’s Volunteer Prosecutor Program
