Vinson & Elkins Recognized for the Fourth Consecutive Year in Bloomberg Law’s Annual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Framework
Vinson & Elkins today announced that it has been included in Bloomberg Law’s fourth annual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Framework.
For four consecutive years, Vinson & Elkins has been recognized by Bloomberg among the leading U.S.-based law firms for transparency in disclosing diversity metrics and exemplary performance across the following: leadership and talent pipeline, business innovation and strategy, demographics, recruitment and retention, marketing, and community diversity and inclusion efforts.
“We work tirelessly to provide our clients with the best service. To do so, we need diverse viewpoints from people of all walks of life who feel included so that they feel comfortable bringing their unique insights to work,” said Quentin Smith, partner and co-chair of the Diversity Executive Committee at Vinson & Elkins. “We are thrilled with this year’s recognition, which validates our constant efforts to create and maintain an inclusive environment for all of our people.”
Vinson & Elkins focuses on attracting, developing, retaining, and promoting the best lawyers and business professionals, including those who come from historically underrepresented backgrounds. We strive to actively blend DEI into all aspects of firm life — our structures, processes, programs, initiatives, and conversations — through intentional relationship building; allyship; education and training; and outreach and collaboration with clients, law schools, and the community.
Bloomberg’s DEI Framework sets the industry standard by recognizing law firms’ dedication to DEI using a rigorous, quantitative, and transparent approach. The program assists firms by offering benchmark data to monitor their progress in key areas, establishing a uniform measure to assess firms’ commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion across the industry.
“The continued growth of this program indicates that the legal industry has not been deterred or lost focus on improving diversity, equity, and inclusion,” said Joe Breda, president, Bloomberg Law. “Four years into this program, we’ve seen incremental changes toward more diversity at all levels.”
