The Human Rights Campaign Foundation recognizes Vinson & Elkins among the “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality” for the eleventh year.

Vinson & Elkins announced today it has received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.

The 2022 CEI results showcase more than 1,200 U.S.-based global companies promoting LGBTQ+ inclusive workplace policies. Vinson & Elkins’ efforts in satisfying all of the CEI criteria earned a 100% ranking and the designation as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.

“Vinson & Elkins is proud to be at the forefront of supporting the LGBTQ+ community and diversity in our own workplace. We are a stronger firm because we value inclusion,” said Dave Oelman, Vinson & Elkins’ Lead Partner – Talent. “We thank the Human Rights Campaign Foundation for its enduring, transformational work and for continuously recognizing our efforts.”

The CEI rates companies and law firms on detailed criteria under four central pillars:

  • Non-discrimination policies across business entities;
  • Equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families;
  • Supporting an inclusive culture; and,
  • Corporate social responsibility.

Vinson & Elkins has a long history of supporting LGBTQ+ workplace equality. In 1997, the firm became the first Texas-founded law firm to offer same-sex partner benefits. Since then, Vinson & Elkins has actively advocated for LGBTQ+ attorneys and business professionals  by providing gender-neutral parental leave and transgender medical coverage; forming an LGBTQ+ affinity group; hosting related educational programs; LGBTQ+ recruiting through law schools and the National LGBTQ+ Bar’s Lavender Law conference; and sponsorship of national organizations such as Lambda Legal.

Vinson & Elkins is currently Mansfield Rule Certified, and also provides scholarships and fellowships to LGBTQ+ and other underrepresented students. Additionally, Vinson & Elkins lawyers regularly provide pro bono legal work supporting LGBTQ+ organizations and individuals.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people. View the full CEI report online at www.hrc.org/cei.
