Vinson & Elkins announced today that its Litigation and Regulatory departments collectively achieved three Band 1 rankings in Chambers USA 2022: Nationwide Energy: Oil & Gas (Regulatory & Litigation); Texas Environment; and, Texas Real Estate: Land Use/Zoning. With nine new individual rankings, the firm’s Litigation and Regulatory rankings make up 83 of the firm’s total 199 rankings.
On August 19, 2021, a team of Vinson & Elkins litigators obtained a victory in the Texas Eastland Court of Appeals for a significant oil and gas taxpayer in Scurry County, Texas.
Vinson & Elkins has been named Energy & Projects Law Firm of the Year by Chambers USA. The Chambers editors noted V&E’s strategic growth also played a part in winning the award. In February, the firm enhanced its Renewable and Sustainable Energy and Tax practices with the addition of a nationally recognized renewable energy finance team.
Vinson & Elkins has promoted 13 lawyers to counsel. Collectively, they represent four offices and six practice areas, including: appellate; mergers and acquisitions and capital markets; energy transactions and projects; complex commercial litigation; real estate; and tax.
On October 4, 2020, Judge Michael Truncale of the Eastern District of Texas issued a 33-page opinion denying a preliminary injunction that would have prevented V&E’s client, Jefferson Energy Companies, from completing the last stages of construction on its 14-mile pipeline that will connect the largest refinery in North America to Jefferson’s crude oil and refined products logistics terminal at the Port of Beaumont, Texas.
