Joyce Adetutu Discusses Costco’s Move to Seek Tariff Refunds in Associated Press

Partner Joyce Adetutu spoke with the Associated Press regarding Costco’s legal action to recover tariffs paid under certain import duties imposed during President Trump’s administration. Adetutu noted that the company is taking proactive steps to protect its right to a refund if the Supreme Court rules the tariffs were imposed illegally, while highlighting the potential procedural and logistical challenges importers may encounter in reclaiming these funds.
“Costco is trying to make sure that if and when the Supreme Court overturns the IEEPA tariffs, which could come as late as the summertime, they have the judgment in place and can collect a refund,” Adetutu said.
