International Trade Lawyer Joyce Adetutu Joins Vinson & Elkins as a Partner

Adetutu has a distinguished track record helping clients with international trade, tariffs, sanctions, and export controls.
Vinson & Elkins today announced that Joyce Adetutu has joined the firm as a Houston-based partner in the Export Controls & Economic Sanctions practice.
Adetutu provides regulatory advice to clients on export controls, trade, sanctions and tariff matters. She has represented clients in matters involving economic and trade sanctions administered by the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and reviews conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). She also advises clients with regard to the applicability of U.S. export controls to their goods, software and technology.
“Joyce is a phenomenal attorney whose experience with complex international trade regimes and sound commercial judgment is a perfect fit for our practice and of critical value to our clients as they face fast-evolving trade and national security regulations,” said Vinson & Elkins Chair Keith Fullenweider.
Adetutu joins Vinson & Elkins from Baker Botts, where she was a partner focused on international trade.
“Few firms can match Vinson & Elkins’ collaborative culture, sophisticated client base and established reputation for providing high-level export controls and sanctions counsel to companies,” Adetutu said. “The firm is a perfect fit for my practice, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to grow the practice.”
Adetutu received a Bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and a Juris Doctor, order of the coif, from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She has been recognized as “One to Watch” for Energy Law by The Best Lawyers in America (2025) and as a “Rising Star” by The Legal 500 U.S. (2024).
