Biography
An accomplished lawyer with over 35 years of experience, Jim’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, with a special emphasis on bankruptcy litigation. Jim is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, which certification he has maintained for more than 20 years. Jim has extensive trial experience in state and federal courts throughout the country. His experience includes the arbitration and mediation of commercial disputes, out-of-court work-outs and restructures.

In commercial litigation, Jim has represented both plaintiffs and defendants at all levels of the judicial system in a wide range of matters, including contract disputes, theft of trade secrets and intellectual property, computer technology controversies, creditors’ rights, failed leveraged buyouts, lender liability, real estate disputes, securities fraud, partnership and corporate governance disputes, class actions, and all forms of business torts.

Jim has significant experience in large and complex bankruptcies, where he has litigated a broad range of contested matters and adversary proceedings, including fraudulent transfers, automatic stay relief, cash collateral arrangements, valuation contests, termination of exclusivity, claims resolution, lien priority disputes, avoidance actions, and objections to plan confirmation. Jim has appeared on behalf of secured lenders, debtors, creditors’ committees, court-appointed trustees, and other parties of interest.

His experience in bankruptcy law and commercial litigation has earned Jim repeated recognition by The Best Lawyers in America®, Chambers USA, Who's Who Legal: Texas; and as a Texas Super Lawyer.
