New Proposed Rule Released for GHG Emissions and Fuel Standards for Heavy-Duty Vehicles

On June 19, 2015, EPA and NHTSA released a new proposed rule for the second phase of its Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Efficiency Standards for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Engines and Vehicles. The proposal includes both NHTSA’s proposed fuel consumption standards and EPA’s proposed carbon dioxide (CO2) emission standards for four regulatory categories of heavy-duty vehicles.

D.C. Circuit Holds that the Proposed Rule to Regulate GHG Emissions Cannot be Challenged Until EPA Issues a Final Rule

EPA Pushes Back Anticipated Release of Final Clean Power Plan Rules to August 2015

EPA's recently updated Unified Agenda of pending regulations sets an August target for issuing a final rule for the Clean Power Plan. This pushes the final rule back from the June 1, 2015 deadline set in President Obama’s  Presidential Memorandum directing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to work expeditiously to complete greenhouse gas (GHG) standards for the power sector.
