Yale Law Women Names V&E Among 2019 Top 10 Firms for Family Friendliness
Vinson & Elkins has been named among the 2019 Top 10 Firms for Family Friendliness by Yale Law Women (YLW). This marks the fourth time V&E has made the list in recognition of its development and implementation of family friendly practices and policies.
The 14th annual Family Friendly Firms List was produced to monitor trends in family friendliness among law firms ranked in the Vault 100, raise awareness of disparities within the legal profession, highlight progress being made in the industry and identify areas for improvement.
To create the list, YLW invited all firms listed in the 2019 Vault Law 100 to participate in a survey assessing three key metrics: billable hours and compensation; parental and family leave accommodations; and part-time and flexible work schedules. Firm responses were weighted based on a concurrent survey of Yale Law School alumni of all genders currently working at Vault 100 firms.
In 2000, V&E launched its Women’s Initiative, which focuses on the recruiting, retention, advancement and success of women lawyers. The Initiative offers a variety of programs to help the Firm’s women lawyers develop and build connections with clients and other attorneys and to support working parents, including a new parent mentoring program, parental leave, post-family leave phase-in, flexible work arrangements, remote work benefits, mentoring programs, networking events, business development and skills training and family-friendly events.
