Vinson & Elkins is proud to serve as a founding sponsor of Greentown Labs Houston, which will be Greentown Labs’ second-ever location.

Greentown Houston will be the city’s first climatetech- and cleantech-focused startup incubator and will be a catalyst in driving progress toward the goals outlined in Houston’s recently announced first-ever Climate Action Plan. Greentown Houston is scheduled to open in Spring 2021.

“As recognized leaders in energy, Vinson & Elkins is on the cutting edge of renewable energy and clean technology,” said V&E partner James Garrett. “Concerns about climate change and sustainability have led many of our clients to make new investments in renewables and innovative clean technologies, so it is an honor for us to collaborate with Greentown Labs Houston as we continue to navigate the energy evolution.”

V&E will serve as the go-to legal counsel and resource for Greentown Houston. The firm will provide pro bono legal services to Greentown Houston on a variety of corporate matters as well as matters associated with intellectual property, commercial contracts, tax, employment, and real estate. In addition, V&E will offer pro bono legal advice to each Greentown Houston member company.

“Our lawyers truly believe in the value of giving back to the communities we serve across the globe, and we are especially proud of our commitment to this important initiative here in our hometown of Houston,” Garrett said.

Greentown Houston will serve as an on-the-ground catalyst for the energy transition in Houston – aiming to bring together civic and business leaders, entrepreneurs, students and other stakeholders who have already begun the transition and raise awareness of the opportunity for those who have yet to engage.

“Opening Greentown Labs’ second location in Houston – the energy capital of the world – is the best place to broaden our impact and help accelerate the energy transition through cleantech entrepreneurship, and we are grateful to Vinson & Elkins for their commitment to supporting early-stage cleantech startups,” said Emily Reichert, CEO of Greentown Labs. “Houston has the opportunity to be the energy transition capital of the world and we believe bringing Greentown Labs to Houston will accelerate the shift in this direction.”
