Vinson & Elkins Receives Prestigious Restructuring Awards

Vinson & Elkins partner Bill Wallander and the firm’s role in the Chapter 11 reorganization of Tuesday Morning Corporation have been recognized as part of the Turnaround Management Association’s (TMA) 2021 Turnaround/Transaction of the Year Awards.
The TMA Turnaround/Transaction of the Year Awards are presented to those who “made a significant impact on the global economy during one of the most challenging times for business.” Recognition is based on peer-review by the volunteer TMA award committee. The committee reviews each entry and looks for “well-defined, measurable outcomes.”
Vinson & Elkins was again recognized for its role in the Tuesday Morning reorganization, as well as in the Chapter 11 reorganization of CARBO Ceramics, as part of The M&A Advisor’s 2021 Turnaround Awards. The awards recognize the year’s leading distressed M&A transactions, restructuring, refinancing, products and services, firms and dealmakers.
In the Chapter 11 bankruptcies of Tuesday Morning, a national retail chain, Vinson & Elkins advised JPMorgan Chase Bank as administrative agent, DIP and exit facility lender. In addition to Wallander, the team included partners Chris Dawe, Erec Winandy and Jim Lee, counsel Brad Foxman, senior associates Randy Aman and Collin Groebe and associates Jake Torres and Matt Struble.
A team led by partners Paul Heath, David Meyer and Mike Telle, with assistance from partners Matt Moran, Guy Gribov, Wendy Salinas, David Peck, David D’Alessandro, Sean Becker and Tom Wilson, advised CARBO Ceramics Inc. and its affiliated debtors in an agreement with Wilks Brothers, LLC and Equify Financial, LLC (together, the “Wilks Brothers”) under which the Wilks Brothers acquired the company through a debt-for-equity exchange pursuant to a plan of reorganization in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case.
Also advising were senior associate Garrick Smith and associates Matt Struble and Mike Garza; senior associate Jeremy Reichman and associate Holly Meyers; associates Todd Hartis and John Daywalt; counsel Christie Alcalá; counsel Regina Ibarra; and senior associate Zach Rider.
