Vinson & Elkins Achieves Mansfield Rule 4.0 Certification and Remains Focused on Diversity
Vinson & Elkins announced today it has achieved Mansfield Rule 4.0 Certification after completing a rigorous year-long collaboration with Diversity Lab.
Mansfield Rule Certification measures whether law firms have affirmatively considered at least 30% women, underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, client opportunities, and senior lateral positions. Mansfield focuses on measurement, transparency, and accountability to achieve meaningful progress toward greater diversity, equity, and inclusion.
“We know our focus on inclusion and equity makes a difference and will be important to our future success – reinforcing our ability to hire, develop, and retain the best talent, while enhancing our ability to provide excellent work for our clients,” said Mark Kelly, Chairman of Vinson & Elkins and co-head of the firm’s global diversity initiatives. “I’m extremely proud of our commitment to diversity. Our sustained effort in this area is vital to increasing the representation of women and diverse lawyers in our firm and in leadership roles.”
Vinson & Elkins is actively taking part in the fifth cycle of the Mansfield process, Mansfield Rule Certification 5.0, that launched in July 2021.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the firms that have worked so tirelessly to implement the Mansfield Rule principles and create inclusive workplaces where every lawyer has the ability to thrive and the opportunity to lead,” said Natalia Marulanda, Mansfield Rule Director at Diversity Lab. “Despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, the Mansfield Rule certified firms have not deviated from their goal of ensuring that law firm leadership reflects the rich diversity of the profession. We are enormously proud to work with such a committed group of firms.”
Diversity Lab is an incubator for innovative ideas and solutions that boost diversity and inclusion in law. Diversity Lab leverages data, behavioral science, design thinking, and technology to further develop and test new ideas and research, measure the results, and share the lessons learned.
