V&E Earns Perfect Score on 2018 Human Rights Campaign Foundation Corporate Equality Index
Vinson & Elkins has received a perfect score of 100 on the Corporate Equality Index for the fourth consecutive year. Administered annually by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the Corporate Equality Index is a national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to LGBTQ employees.
V&E joins the ranks of 609 nationwide businesses that also earned perfect 100 percent scores and the designation of being a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.” According to the Corporate Equality Index, employers featured in the report “took concrete steps to ensure greater equity for LGBTQ workers and their families in the form of comprehensive policies, benefits and practices.”
Rating criteria includes non-discrimination policies across business entities, equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families, internal education and accountability metrics to promote LGBTQ inclusion competency and public commitment to LGBTQ equality.

V&E has a long history of supporting LGBTQ workplace equality. In 1997, the firm became the first Texas-based law firm to offer same-sex partner benefits. Since then, V&E has actively championed LGBTQ attorneys and initiatives by providing equal benefits, an LGBTQ attorney affinity group, LGBTQ-specific programs, LGBTQ-focused recruiting, law school prep course scholarships for LGBTQ students, local and national organizational sponsorships and pro bono work and volunteer support of LGBTQ organizations and individuals.
