V&E #1 Legal Advisor by Deal Count in Mergermarket's 2017 Global Energy, Mining & Utilities Report
Vinson & Elkins claimed the top spot in Mergermarket’s 2017 Energy, Mining & Utilities (EMU) Global Trend Report by deal count, credited with 74 deals valued at $80 billion.
The report also details top deals of 2017, including V&E’s representation of Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) in its multi-billion dollar agreement with MPLX LP for MPC to exchange its general partner economic interests in MPLX, including incentive distribution rights, for 275 million newly issued MPLX common units. A V&E team led by corporate partner David Oelman and tax partner Ryan Carney represented MPC in the transaction.
Additionally, V&E maintained its position as the #1 firm advising on North American energy deals by both deal count and value and was ranked #2 by deal value in the 2017 global EMU tables.
