Tom Leatherbury Inducted as Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers
Vinson & Elkins partner Tom Leatherbury has been inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers (AAAL).
The AAAL was founded in 1990 to recognize outstanding appellate lawyers and promote the improvement of appellate advocacy and the administration of appellate courts. Fellowship in AAAL is reserved for experienced appellate advocates with a minimum of 15 years of practice in appellate law with proven success and respect in the appellate courts where he or she practices. Inductees are nominated by current AAAL Fellows, thoroughly vetted by the legal and judicial communities in a confidential process and elected by the organization’s Board of Directors.
Leatherbury, co-head of V&E’s firm-wide Appellate practice, has led a wide range of state and federal appeals and trials. His experience includes commercial, tort, intellectual property and healthcare litigation, as well as class actions and representation of publishers and broadcasters in all aspects of media litigation.
A 2018 recipient of the Dallas Bar Foundation’s Justinian Award, Leatherbury is currently ranked in First Amendment Litigation and Appellate Litigation by Chambers USA and in First Amendment Litigation Law, Commercial Litigation, Appellate Law and Bet-the-Company Litigation in Best Lawyers in America.
