IJGlobal Names Hickory Run Energy Project 2017 “North American Power Deal of the Year”
IJGlobal has named the Hickory Run Energy Project the 2017 “North American Power Deal of the Year.”
Vinson & Elkins advised Tyr Energy, Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Itochu Corporation, in connection with the financing and development of the Hickory Run Energy Center, a highly efficient natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant with an electric generating capacity of up to 1,000 MW located in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. The project is expected to commence operations in spring 2020.
As part of the transactions, which closed in August 2017, V&E also represented Tyr Energy in the sale of equity interests in the project to, and joint venture arrangements with, affiliates of Siemens Financial Services and The Kansai Electric Power Co. V&E had previously advised Tyr Energy in the acquisition of all of the equity interests in the project company, Hickory Run Energy, LLC, from LS Power in June 2016.
The V&E team was led by partners Maritza Okata and Karen Smith, along with Trina Chandler, and included, among others, Katy Gottsponer, John Decker, Randy Jurgensmeyer, Wendy Salinas, Billy Vigdor, Julie Monier, Carter Olson and Nettie Downs.
The IJGlobal Awards recognize outstanding transactions and institutions in infrastructure finance. The winners were recognized at a dinner in New York on March 15, 2018.
