Gillian Hobson Named Among 2018 MCCA Rainmakers
Vinson & Elkins partner Gillian Hobson has been named among the Minority Corporation Counsel Association’s (MCCA) 2018 Rainmakers. Hobson is one of 11 diverse attorneys recognized for their business acumen, passion and dedication to proactive client development, setting them apart as leaders in the legal profession.
MCCA, an organization committed to advancing the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse lawyers in law departments and law firms, compiles its annual Rainmakers list from a large nomination pool of attorneys with books of business exceeding $5 million annually who have made contributions to their communities.
Hobson’s practice focuses on corporate finance and securities. She has represented both issuers and underwriters in public and private debt and equity securities offerings, including offerings of limited partner interests of publicly traded partnerships, also known as MLPs.
Among her recent representations, Hobson advised Alon USA in the $464 million acquisition by Delek US Holdings of the outstanding shares of Alon common stock, TransCanada Corporation in the $915 million merger of Columbia Pipeline Partners and Columbia Pipeline Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TransCanada, and TC PipeLines in its $765 million acquisition of interests in Iroquois Gas Transmission System and Portland Natural Gas Transmission System from TransCanada.
In addition to her practice, Hobson is a member of V&E’s Management Committee and is actively engaged in the firm’s recruiting, mentoring and diversity initiatives, including as Co-Chair of V&E’s Diversity Council.
The 2018 Rainmakers will be honored at MCCA’s Global TEC Forum luncheon in Austin on April 13 and featured in the Spring 2018 issue of Diversity & the Bar® magazine.
