D Magazine Names 4 V&E Attorneys to 2021 Best Lawyers Under 40 List
D Magazine has named Vinson & Elkins counsel Jeremy Reichman and senior associates Rafael Alvarado, Randy Aman and Brian Russell to its 2021 “Best Lawyers Under 40” list, honoring outstanding young lawyers in North Texas.
To compile the list, D Magazine editors solicit nominations from lawyers across North Texas by asking, “which lawyers under 40, of those whose work you have witnessed firsthand, would you rank among the current best?” After votes are tallied, a panel of esteemed lawyers work with the magazine’s staff to evaluate the nominees and determine honorees.
Reichman’s experience covers a wide variety of commercial disputes in state and federal courts, with a primary focus on representing lawyers and law firms in professional-liability suits and representing debtors and creditors involved in bankruptcy litigation. His notable representations include obtaining a take-nothing summary-judgment victory in Texas District Court, and successfully defending it on appeal to the Dallas Court of Appeals, on behalf of a national law firm and its individual lawyers in a multi-claim professional-liability case arising out of the drafting and workout of a real-estate loan transaction and non-judicial foreclosure, and representing a debtor, a ceramic-proppant company, in a contested chapter 11 bankruptcy, including defeating a request for the appointment of an equity committee after a two-day evidentiary hearing and successfully obtaining confirmation of a plan of reorganization effectuating a debt-for-equity exchange.
Alvarado’s practice focuses on the representation of financial institutions and corporate borrowers in a wide range of commercial lending transactions. He has assisted clients with domestic and international transactions, including syndicated credit facilities, senior and subordinate credit facilities, energy loans, acquisition financings and other leveraged financings. Recently, he advised an ad-hoc group of secured term loan lenders in connection with MD America Energy, LLC’s prepackaged chapter 11 bankruptcy cases and financial restructuring process and JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., as administrative agent, in a DIP-to-Exit financing in connection with Denbury Inc.’s restructuring and prepackaged voluntary chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.
Aman represents banks, financial institutions and corporate borrowers in the negotiation and documentation of secured and unsecured loan transactions including asset-based, reserve-based and debtor-in-possession lending facilities and acquisition financings. His recent experience includes the representation of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. in a $905 million unsecured 364-day revolving credit facility to Pioneer Natural Resources Company and JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., as administrative agent, in a $110 million secured asset-based exit credit facility to Tuesday Morning, Inc. Aman was also named to the D Magazine “Best Lawyers Under 40” list in 2020 and as a Texas “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2019 and 2020.
Russell focuses on the federal income tax aspects of domestic and cross-border transactions. His recent experience includes advising Switchback Energy Acquisition Corporation in its $2.4 billion business combination with ChargePoint, a leading electric vehicle charging network, and Tortoise Acquisition Corp. in its merger with Hyliion Inc., a developer and manufacturer of electrified powertrain solutions for Class 8 commercial vehicles. Russell was also named to the D Magazine “Best Lawyers Under 40” list in 2020.
The complete “Best Lawyers Under 40” list is featured in the January 2021 issue of D Magazine.
