Vinson & Elkins’ Corporate and Tax departments collectively achieved 10 Band 1 practice rankings in Chambers USA 2021: Nationwide Energy: Oil & Gas (Transactional); Nationwide Projects: Oil & Gas; Nationwide Projects: Power & Renewables (Transactional); Texas Banking & Finance; Texas Bankruptcy/Restructuring; Texas Capital Markets: Debt & Equity; Texas Corporate/M&A: The Elite; Texas Tax; Austin Corporate/M&A; and New York Bankruptcy/Restructuring: Highly Regarded.

Overall, the firm’s Corporate and Tax departments received five new/regained practice rankings and 20 new/regained individual rankings. Eighteen individuals from these departments received Band 1 recognition, including three who were promoted to Band 1 this year. The Corporate and Tax departments achieved 108 combined practice and individual rankings, with the firm’s overall total standing at 186.

“Vinson & Elkins continues to build momentum across our Corporate and Tax practices and the value of our client work is reflected in this year’s Chambers rankings,” said Keith Fullenweider, co-head of its Corporate department and Chair-Elect of the firm. “While we have always ranked high in Texas and continue to do so, our New York office has seen a significant rise in recognition and now has seven individually ranked lawyers, including four first-time recipients. In particular, we’ve seen an increase for specific service offerings in New York, verified by the high ranking of our Shareholder Activism partners and by two new practice rankings in Bankruptcy/Restructuring and Real Estate. Our D.C. and Virginia offices also saw outstanding results, particularly in the REITs arena.”

“Having fully half of our tax partners recognized individually by Chambers this year, including some of our leaders in complex corporate, partnership, energy, restructuring and REIT taxation, demonstrates the dedication to our clients and knowledge of our counsel,” said George Gerachis, partner and head of the firm’s Tax Practice. “Our new rankings this year in Projects: Renewables & Alternative Energy represents our recent strategic growth in that area, while several new and improved rankings across the REITs and Tax categories solidify our existing leading position. This is a testament to the breadth and sophistication of our tax practice.”

Chambers cites corporate clients who say the firm’s lawyers “are incredibly helpful, they always go above and beyond, and their responses are timely and exactly what we need.

Tax clients told ChambersTheir services are top-tier; their quality of advice is extremely high.
