Brian Schnapp Named Among Bloomberg Law’s “They’ve Got Next: Five Fresh Faces to Know in Antitrust”

Vinson & Elkins counsel Brian Schnapp has been named to the tenth installment of Bloomberg Law’s “They’ve Got Next” series featuring “five young lawyers to know in the world of antitrust.”
Based in Vinson & Elkins’ Washington, D.C. office, Schnapp represents companies in antitrust litigation and government investigations, focusing on cartel and civil conduct cases.
Among his notable representations, Schnapp played a key role in Vinson & Elkins’ long-running representation of Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd. a major Japanese manufacturer and supplier of auto parts, in connection with the largest criminal antitrust investigation ever handled by the DOJ.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Craig Seebald, partner and co-head of litigation at Vinson & Elkins, described Schnapp as a “superstar” in the firm’s representation of Hitachi. “He is one of the most organized people I know,” Seebald added.
Schnapp also has impressive experience with complex antitrust matters in the technology industry, including advising Google in global competition investigations.
“One of the things that really stands out about [Brian] is that he just knows that client’s business left and right,” Darren Tucker, chair of Vinson & Elkins’ antitrust practice group, told Bloomberg.
For decades, Vinson & Elkins lawyers have counseled technology companies as they have matured into global industry leaders. An area of heightened legislative and regulatory scrutiny, Schnapp told Bloomberg he hopes to continue expanding his practice in growth tech areas, especially involving the antitrust implications of “Big Data” and artificial intelligence use in business.
“It’s kind of an exciting time to be doing this,” Schnapp said.
To compile the list, Bloomberg Law asked firms to nominate lawyers under the age of 40 who are leaders in the area of antitrust law and innovators in the legal industry. Read Schnapp’s full profile here.
