In This Season, Our Business is for the Good of Everyone

“But you were always a good man of business, Jacob,” faltered Scrooge, who now began to apply this to himself.

“Business!” cried the Ghost, wringing its hands again. “Mankind was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all, my business. The deals of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!”

– Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

We here at Vinson & Elkins who write for and edit the Modern Workplace Blog wish to leave you with this thought for the holiday season. During the year, we are all about providing information that we hope leads to the best of outcomes in the challenges you may face in your workplace. We are interested in your business and we want to have a positive impact. However, at this time of year, we take this moment to urge you to spend some time away from the business that often consumes us the rest of year. Take time with family and encourage your employees to do the same. It will make you a better employer — and your employees better employees — in 2019.

Also, take time to give to those who may not be as fortunate as the rest of us. You may have your own charitable interests but we hope you do not mind if we, the Modern Workplace editorial team, share with you our own list of charities should you be looking for a fresh place to give of your time and treasure. Please see that list below. Best wishes to all of our readers for this holiday season.
