Webcast: “SPACs are Back” hosted by The Deal

On June 30, 2020, V&E partner Ramey Layne spoke on a panel titled “SPACs are Back” hosted by The Deal. This webinar reviewed how the SPAC (Special Purpose Acquisition Companies) IPO market has resurged in recent years, and how the reopening of the economy after the COVID-19 crisis has impacted merger and acquisition transactions and IPOs by SPACs.
Panelists discussed the flexibility and attractiveness of the SPAC vehicle, as well has its risks and possible downsides. As of late, the breadth and depth of sponsors interested in the SPAC model has intensified, and given the speed to go public through a SPAC is much faster than a traditional IPO, it’s the opinion of some panelists that it’s no wonder we are seeing more and more businesses using SPACs to try and access the equity capital markets.
Given the volume of these transactions (more SPAC IPOs have taken place than traditional IPOs at the time of this recording), will this trend continue?
