Practising Law Institute's Panel "Private Equity in the Antitrust Enforcement Crosshairs"
On November 30th at 12:00 p.m. CT/1:00 p.m. ET, Vinson & Elkins’ Craig Seebald, Matt Strock and Lindsey Vaala, along with AlixPartners’ Managing Director Tasneem Chipty, will participate in PLI’s one-hour program to discuss the antitrust issues that the FTC and other antitrust agencies will prioritize with a new administration in place, and, notably, how private equity firms can minimize their risks.
With new leaders recently put into place, Jonathan Kanter at the DOJ, Tim Wu at The White House, and most notably Lina Khan at the FTC, antitrust enforcement involving private equity is becoming a major priority. FTC Chair Khan recently outlined the Commission’s upcoming priorities and identified concerns about private equity as a leading priority. The panelists will outline recent policy shifts at the FTC and DOJ and what they mean for private equity, the recent wave of merger enforcement by the agencies, the importance of due diligence of assets and businesses acquired by private equity to avoid buying an antitrust problem, and management of competing businesses by private equity and how to minimize antitrust exposure.
